MONG CAI
OVERVIEW |
The town of Mong Cai is border market place where economic and trade activities and cultural exchanges between Quang Ninh and Guang Xi and Vietnam and China take place. It is also the bridge spanning tourist centres of Vietnam and China. 7km from Mong Cai by road, Tra Co is a famous tourist attraction in Vietnam. It has a cool and fresh climate and a tranquil and spacious atmosphere. It is home to ancient temples, pagodas and churches and flat, and broad fine sand beaches stretching for 17km which are seen most beautiful in Vietnam.
Thousands of Visitors come to Tra Co every year to bath. Not far from the beach are located 3-4 metres high sand dunes, peaceful fishermen’ villages, verdant pine trees, and a rich mangrove ecosystem.
Tra Co Communal House Festival takes place boisterously from the 30th of the fifth lunar month to the 6th of the sixth lunar month attracting a crowd of pilgrims from home and abroad.
Tra Co Beach
Tra Co beach can be reached by boat from Haiphong of Hong Gai, by minibus from Hong Gai and by motorcycle from Mong Cai. It is one of the most charming beaches in Vietnam, located just next to the border with China.
Tra Co includes 15km of white sand beach, situated on the outer edge of the island. The coastline is bordered by sand dunes in which densely-populated villages are located. The beach is shaded by sandalwood trees, protecting villages from wind and sand.
The average temperature in Tra Co is 23oC, although it tends to drop well below this between December and March. The hottest months are June and July when temperatures reach 26 and 28oC
