Day 1: Ho Chi Minh - Cai Be - Tra On
Today we depart hotel at 7h00 and drive towards the Mekong Delta. This plain region boasts the largest rice bowl of Vietnam. On arrival in Cai Be Town we are welcomed on Mien Tay Cruise with a refreshing drink and get some information on boat. This is time for us to settle into a private comfortable cabin and unpack for a two days navigating in Mekong Delta. Along the way we explore Cai Be floating market where each boat usually sells one particular item, whether it be pumpkins, pineapples, sugar canes. In order that customers know where to shop, the vendors hang that item from the highest part of the boat. The next stop is Cho Lach village, giving us a chance to enjoy a pleasant walking or biking along the local footpaths to discover some tropical fruit orchards as well as see local villagers doing their daily works. We continue our excursion though an intricate network of canals which are the lifeblood of the Mekong Delta to Tra On. The remainder of day is for your own pleasure; observing the river life close up, lazing around the deck or soaking up the sunshine. O/N on board. (L,D)
Day 2: Tra On - Can Tho - Ho Chi Minh
The bustling river life combined with lush rice field backdrop makes for a fantastic scene. We have an option to get up early up to admire the landscape, do the morning exercise on sundeck or simply bask in the sunrise. Upon leaving Cha On we cruise up towards Can Tho and venture into the Bassac River past rice fields fringed with palm trees, fruit orchards and canals crammed with boats and rice barges. They are wonderful for photograph hunters. As an inspiring highlight of our river trip we board a small boat to discover Cai Rang , one of the most bustling floating markets in the Mekong Delta. In place are hundreds of small boats barging and jostling for space as their owners attempt to sell the goods. By mid morning we arrange our luggage and disembark in Can Tho Pier. The waiting vehicle will pick us up for a return journey. The trip ends after arrival in Ho Chi Minh. (B)
